Christopher Gets Casts

Here's Christopher getting his first cast on. He was so calm. I would be too if they dipped my pacifier in Sweet Ease (tastes like candy) to keep me happy. Like getting a sweet fix. I also could have used a big ol' Hershey's bar at this time but the nurses were not so accomodating. Just give me an IV drip of chocolate. :)

The second leg getting wrapped by Mike (phys. assistant from Dr. Rubin's office - pediatric orthopedics)

The end result... these casts work to correct the arch in his foot. He will get new casts once a week for the next six weeks. Our little trooper.

  2. Wouldn't that be? And they could wrap me in a blanket straight out of the blanket warmer as well. Heaven.

  3. Oh, little man! They don't waste any time with this, do they? I guess it's the sooner the better. So after 6 weeks will the club feet be fixed?

  4. They will be in casts for 6 weeks, changed once a week. Then in casts for three more weeks, not changed. Then braces for 24hrs a day for 3 (?) months and then 12hrs a day (night time and naps) til he's 3 or 4.

  5. Hi Kristin! It's Cindy(Amber's student's mom) Amber told me that you had a blog and that you wanted me to take a look. Thank you so much for remembering me in all of this. When Amber told me you had the baby I was said,"What? already? lucky girl." But now I see that it was not under the best of conditions. Eden was born via c/s so I know your pain it sucks! Thank you for allowing me a window into your life. Seeing those pictures of Christopher's little legs really brings it home and makes it more of a reality than it already has been. His little feet look exactly like our little man's ultrasound images. Actually, his feet look better, or little man's feet look more inverted.
