Caughtya

I caught Erin downstairs all by herself, reading a big book to Brown Bear this afternoon.  Guess she wasn't actually by herself.  He's still her best friend.  Occasionally she just calls him Brown.

For the Love of Feet

There's a kid in my class that has the worst stinky feet.  Unfortunately he sits right in front of me at carpet time.  Yesterday I suddenly realized there was something giving me a headache.  A smell.  A mildewy stinky feet smell.  I looked down, and the kid in front of me had one shoe off and was wearing no socks.  I yelled, "PUTYOURSHOEON!"  and his response was, "My foot itches!"

Well, yeah, your foot is going to itch if you go sockless day in and day out.  What's bad is the stink is constant, even if the shoes are on all day.  So my response to him was to wear socks which I then turned into a "teachable moment" and told everyone about foot hygiene, wearing socks and bathing.

So today the kid wore socks.  That melted my heart a little.  Yet, the stink remains.  I had to open the doors of my classroom to air it out this afternoon.  I kid you not.  That's how bad these feet stink.  And who knows, maybe it's actually more than one kid.  Regardless, it's a scent that does not leave my olfactory organs.

If you are reading this, promise me you will not do this to your child's kindergarten teacher.  Ever.  We are always in close proximity to the kids.  They should smell like fresh rain, sweet peas, vanilla, baby lotion.  Not dead fish and pickles.

Thank you.
