Life with Christopher

Don't let this preciousness fool you. Our life right now - in one word - sleepless. So he's eating every two hours, sometimes even more often (cluster feedings - forgot about those). Kind of makes everyone in the house a little crazy. Kate walks into our room in the middle of the night - after the baby's been crying - and says, "Christopher woke me up!" Really? You have to get out of bed to announce that? And then we feel obligated to walk her back to her room because the dark hall is so scary. Thank goodness Erin doesn't seem so affected by the crying baby. This little guy cries more than the girls did. Or maybe we just block that out of our memories so that when the next one comes around we are ready for anything rather than expecting the worst.

Kate is a wonderful big, big sister. She LOVES to hold Christopher, even if he's fussy and inconsolable. Erin just asked to hold him for the first time today! She's showing a little more interest in him and all of it is pure sweetness. They both love to baby talk him and kiss him on the top of his silky soft head.

I've been watching a lot of Jon and Kate plus 8. Makes Josh and Kristin plus 3 feel easy. At least I think if these crazy people can do it with 8, I can certainly run a household of 3 kids. Maybe. And we also watch Kitchen Nightmares, makes our frozen chicken patty sandwiches look gourmet compared to what some of those crazies serve in their restaurant. Tonight I heard Josh mutter, "I hope Gordon Ramsay approves." as he set out our dinner.
Speaking of Josh. Other women should envy me. :) He has done everything since we got home. How do I compete with that? It's amazing. I'm so lucky to have him. We're so lucky to have him.

Christopher got his first casts off yesterday (they said his feet already look better) and they were replaced with these heavy, ugly, plaster casts. It was stressful, but we know in the end it's good for him. We are trying to decide whether to go with the doctor we started with or switch over to Shriner's. Yet another decision!

Other than the need to organize ourselves with feedings, appointments, big sisters, etc.... we are doing great and loving every minute of having a new addition to our family!

  2. Ha! I have been watching Jon & Kate religiously since I've had cable at this house! Peter asks me today, "So this show like inspires you to be a better mom or what?" Um, yeah, pretty much...it makes my life seem more manageable! Hm, well I wish I could come be your personal chef for a while, I would love it! Plus then I could hold the baby while you eat and get some of that sugar. And my friends like to call me a "baby sleep technician" so maybe I could be useful to you after all. ha!

  3. I just said out loud to Jon "He is so cute" then your blog said don't let this preciousness fool you, it was kinda funny. I remember how tired I felt for those first few weeks...months. I hope you can get some good napping in, that helps a lot. His feet do already look straighter! Amazing.
