Last Ultrasound

Today we had what is hopefully the last ultrasound on the baby. He's looking good and weighs approx. 4 lbs. 15 oz. We'll go ahead and call that 5 pounds. The ultrasound shows (still) that the blood flow through the umbilical cord is slow, but the doc checked flow to the brain and it looked good. It is most likely that the body knows what it is doing and since it is an amazing thing, keeps the blood flowing to the important parts, such as the brain and heart. Baby had his hand on his knee in the womb today. Too cute. Dr. Chyu (she's a perinatologist) says that she thinks my dr.s will possibly induce me at 39 weeks, depending on my blood pressure and other things they'll check. How exciting! I can't wait to meet the little guy. I'm just so curious about him.

WHAT?

I saw one of those teeny tiny new cars out and about today a Smart or Fit, not sure exactly which one. Erin actually said, "Awwwwwwwwwwww..." when I pointed it out to her. Funny girl. She cracks me up most days. But anyway, what on earth is a person who drives one of those cars thinking as they drive down the freeway?! Can it possibly make you feel like you're cheating death and it's just a thrill - adrenaline rush - to cruise down Interstate 80 in a potato? I have friends that will drive nothing smaller than an XXL SUV. Regardless of gas guzzling, I know they feel safer just being able to see the world around them. What can you possibly see out of the tiny Smart or Fit? The ass end of all the SUV's and probably your life flashing before your eyes I would assume.

Oh, Baby...

I've been taken off work early so that I can rest while the baby tries to catch up in size. Apparently the placenta isn't doing its job. Who knew a placenta could screw up so badly? When the cells split half going to become a baby and half going to become the placenta, the placenta side didn't quite do what it needed to do. Bummer. So, in turn it didn't kick the uterin artery into gear as it should have so the blood flow from my heart is not as strong as it should be to the uterus. I thought maybe in this blog I should give a little biology lesson. And that's about it. This little one has been quite the adventure. I'm almost convinced it's because it's a boy this time around. ;)
