A Week of Thanks

Our week started with a very quick trip to Laughlin, Nevada. It was awesome to spend 9 hours in the car together with no kids and complete silence, or in conversation without interruption, or blaring music with bad words. Oh, the things that we take for granted when there are three beautiful children in the back seat. The highlight for Josh was driving on route 66. I am thankful for my husband and adventures.

I thought Route 66 was pretty cool too. I am, however, thankful for roads without potholes.

We stayed at the Colorado Belle hotel in Laughlin, where apparently, my grandparents stayed the first time they ever came to Laughlin. I think it was the only casino there at the time. I also believe they have never changed the carpet or mattresses. That being said, I am thankful for family history. This is Kim, Uncle Gary, Grandma and I. I am thankful for a funny family. Truly, I laugh with them.

Here's the best picture of Thanksgiving. Kate snapped the green beans for me. I am so thankful for her.

Christopher met his great grandma for the first time and we all met baby Fern for the first time. She is wonderful and beautiful and we are thankful for babies.

I am thankful for my friends. I got to see Janae TWICE this weekend. That is a rare occurance and reminds me how much I love spending time with her.

I am thankful for these people. I am who I am because they love me. At least they play along well enough for me to believe they do.

First Birthday

You want some cake?
I'm one now!
Mommy has a special place in her heart for these "moment" pictures. The snapshots of time she never wants to forget. The pictures that are unstaged, no thought behind them except to grab the camera. No matter where the next year takes us, this is where we can look back. From frenzied days to twinkles in time. Loving me up.

Baby's First Halloween

We started our weekend with a trip to the pumpkin patch. Christopher was terrified of the wind, pumpkins and cold air. However, we did manage to get ONE picture of him smiling at the end of our adventure.
Erin had a blast hiking through the pumpkin vines, running down the dirt road as far as she could go and climbing the hay bales.

Kate was determined to find the perfect pumpkin!

We picked out three smallish pumpkins with crazy long stems. It's all about the stems!

We enjoyed Halloween with Grandma and Grandpa Ayers and Christopher was tortured in a turtle costume. All in all it was a good holiday. Now on to Thanksgiving!
