First "Camping" Trip

Last weekend we camped out  for the first time.  We went to Sly Park for one night to figure out the quirks in our "new to us" trailer.  It was a quick, but fun get away and the perfect thing to get us through the weekend and out of the house.  Here are a few pictures of the adventure we had in a total of about 18 hours.

Stop the Drilling

Sorry. You really thought this blog would be an environmental rant about the oil gushing out of the gulf.  I find that a deeply disturbing can't-wrap-my-brain-around-it event.  And would in no way want to diminish what is going on in the southern U.S.  BUT this blog is about my dentist.  So if you are now completely uninterested just continue surfing.

I went to the dentist yesterday to have a cavity (gasp) filled and another one re-done.  Apparently the previous dentist didn't do a good enough job or this current dentist just happens to love money. 

I am pretty sure it is the latter. 

As I lie, lay, lye, lei there I found the drilling noise from the cubicle style dental rooms decreasing my ability to be still and calm.  Calmness is something I pride myself in.  Shivering after shots to numb my mouth, is not.

Breathing deeply through my nose I immersed myself into a magazine article about the Duggar family.  If you know anything about the Duggar family you know this is good stuff.  Who could possibly resist an article about a family who chooses to put every event of the family on national television and the mother's life at risk with every pregnancy?  She's up to -what- 39 kids and 15 c-sections now or something? 

When it was my turn to be drilled on, the dentist started with the re-do cavity.  *side note - I do not believe he washed his hands between patients, merely changed latex gloves - is this right?!?  He used that big metal ring to separate my gum from my tooth.  Then he proceeded to comment on how bad it was and that he was now scraping the evil off my roots.  Maybe not really in those words, but definitely in that tone.  He also happened to mention that my mouth would be extremely sore after the numbness wore off.

Peachy.

Second came the "new" cavity.  It was easier. I am pretty sure when he grunted to put the wedge between my teeth to get to the bad spot, my jaw cracked a little. All I could think the entire time he was drilling was what if people protested outside dentist offices with NO MORE DRILLING signs?  I guess it wouldn't really matter. Dental work would still be there. It did, however keep my mind off the drill.

I went home and had chocolate ice cream for dinner.  After all, didn't I deserve to indulge myself, and not bite my cheek?

This was Erin's very first year to dance. She was sooo cute and totally did what any four year old would do on stage... watch her friends and be completely off tempo. Loved it.
