It's a BEAUTIFUL day today. 73 degrees, awesome breeze... I stayed home with the kiddos today because it is our last day of spring break and thought we should just hang around the house. We've been out all week going to dr. appointments and other errands - a pedicure and time out of the house without kids for mommy. But there are those times when domestication calls me back to home and I need to just be there with the kids enjoying the day. Christopher has had two, yes, two naps today that have been longer than 30 minutes. In fact, the current nap he is taking has lasted 2 hours and 21 minutes so far. Yes, I did peek in to monitor his breathing. He is still alive. I think because he is now sleeping on his stomach only, I still have that need to check in when he's sleeping soundly. Too soundly. Eerily soundly. It's awesome.
Yesterday Josh caught a vole. I was on the phone with my mom and he bounded in the side slider yelling, "Give me your jar, give me your jar!" Oddly enough, I keep this jar under the kitchen sink to catch things in. We have been very curious about the dirt piles in the middle of our grass. Now we know the creature that's been violating our lawn. Josh had run water down a hole near our driveway and it flushed out the cutest little critter with long gopherish teeth and adorable beady eyes. The vole could care less about us gazing at him (or her - I didn't take the time to check under the tail lest my finger be bit off and my rabies vaccines are out of date), it just wanted to clean its fur and get dry. It was a little bit shivery in that jar. Kate of course wanted to keep it. Josh drove the vole to the river and let it out in the weeds. He said he literally had to turn the jar upside down to get the little guy out. I just pictured Josh shaking the jar and the vole pressing all four feet to the sides of the jar like, "OH heck no, you are not leaving me out here in the cold dark night with the owls and snakes. I'll DIE what are you THINKING?!" As Josh drove away the vole just stayed there in the same spot that Josh had dumped him out. Poor little vole.
Christopher has now been sleeping for 2 hours, 32 minutes. The girls are begging for snacks. It's been about 2 minutes and 32 seconds since the last time they begged for a snack....
It's just like Ratatouille! The vole is Remy and Josh is Linguine! :)
ReplyDeletethat is pure awesome! as are you?
ReplyDeleteLMAO. You are so funny! Btw, what the heck is a vole? I figure some type of rodent, but I've never heard of that?!?!
ReplyDeleteOk, so I'm just now catching up on some blogs here, but I have never heard of a vole either! Kinda like moving here and having "vog" instead of fog. Well, I'll try not to think any less of Josh for his vole abandonment. My husband would have not been so merciful. :)
