We were getting fussy, irritable, cry at the drop of a pin, Kate ready for bed tonight and she was midway to getting on her pajamas standing in her underwear when she announced that she was going to get new parents. This may sound funny to you but my heart did break a little. We asked who she would like to have as her new parents and she said Janae. So Josh picked up the phone and pretended to call Janae. He had this lengthy "conversation" with Janae about coming to get Kate as she has been chosen as the new parent. Then we send Kate downstairs to stand and wait at the front door until Janae comes. She's still in her underwear, mind you, because we told her that her new mommy would have to supply her pajamas from now on. Josh and I wait at the top of the stairs and she calls up, "Can someone help me open the door?" We told her, "No, your new mommy will have to help you with these things now." Then we hear some sniffles and another plea to help her open the door.
Well, I can't take it anymore so I run down to Kate, swoop her up and tell her I love her and that I would never, ever, give her up to a new mommy, of course just knowing that she is heart broken that we could even think of getting rid of our precious baby. She begins to cry and says:
"But I want to live with Janae, that was not really Janae on the phone was it?" And more crying follows...
She's 3 1/2. What are we going to do with our child when she's 16?!? For now though, we've convinced her to keep us. But it may be only temporary
